Join us from Saturday, November 1 to Saturday, November 15 for our Food for Fines Event, where you can help feed children in our community while clearing your library fines!

The CPRL Libraries and the NC Food Bank are teaming up for this initiative, allowing you to turn your overdue fines into food donations that will support children in need, especially during weekends and holidays.

Simply bring non-perishable pantry items to your local library, and for every item you donate, we'll waive $1 of your library fines. It’s a win-win!

If you don’t have fines but still want to contribute, you can bring in items to anonymously pay off fines for a child or young adult who may be struggling to do so. Your generosity will provide much-needed food and ensure access to books and resources for everyone.

Please remember, the food donations must be unexpired and in good condition. We accept only items in hard packaging (like cardboard, pouches, or cans), and unfortunately, glass containers can’t be accepted. Suggested items include canned soup, meats, fruits, vegetables, peanut butter, cereal, boxed pasta, crackers, and healthy snacks.

There’s no limit to how much food you can donate! Just a reminder, the Food for Fines program applies only to overdue fines, not for any lost or damaged items.

Thank you for helping us make a difference!
