Havelock Craven County Library Finds Temporary Home During Renovations

Good News! Renovations at the Havelock Library building are ahead of schedule. The new carpeting has been installed and the walls have been painted. Shelving inside the library is being reassembled. Staff will be organizing materials from January 20-23. The library will continue to operate in the temporary location at St. Timothy's Lutheran Church through January 23. Both locations (St. Timothy's and 301 Cunningham Blvd.) will be closed on Saturday, January 24, 2026 and Monday, January 26, 2026 to allow the library materials at the church to be packed and moved back to 301 Cunningham Blvd. The Book Tech Mobile will be onsite at the college on these days (weather permitting).

Currently, the reopening of the library for public use at 301 Cunningham Blvd will be on January 27, 2026 and will resume library programs in February 2026.

"We are dedicated to serving our community during this transition," said Mrs. Holmgren, Havelock-Craven County Branch Manager. "We are especially grateful to the St. Timothy’s congregation for making this temporary location possible. They are a small congregation with a big heart and a desire to help our community."

 

To maintain the integrity of our collection, a large portion will be stored in climate-controlled facilities during the renovation. Despite the move, patrons can still access new books, DVDs, audiobooks, and interlibrary loan materials from other CPRL libraries, ensuring continued availability of fresh resources, as well as internet access and printing services.

 

The Havelock Craven County Library serves not only the public but also Craven Community College. “We remain committed to supporting Craven Community College students with the Book/Techmobile available on Saturdays and Mondays,” stated Mrs. Holmgren. It will be located at the college's closed library facility for research and special projects, weather permitting.

 

The renovation project aims to refresh the library with new paint and flooring, as well as create dedicated sections to better serve our community, including a space for light refreshments.

 

Patrons are advised to enter the temporary location at St. Timothy’s Church through the designated entrance door identified by the library flag, which will lead directly into the fellowship hall.
