Presentation for Black History Month: To Bear Witness – Emmett Till and the Civil Rights Movement
In August 1955 Mamie Till-Mobley’s son, Emmett Till, was murdered while visiting relatives in Mississippi. This tragic event, and the response to it, helped spark the Civil Rights Movement. Learn about Mamie Till-Mobley’s courageous actions, the trial of the accused, and the effect of Emmett Till’s death upon civil rights in the South. There is a limit of 15 registrants.
